Why would I need the Dual-Scan Microchip Cat door?
The SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door has all the same features as the SureFlap Microchip Cat Door, with the added feature of a double antenna to read a cat's microchip when they come into the house and when they go out. This allows you to restrict some pets to indoors-only, while others are allowed outside and back in again.

Can I use the SureFlap Microchip Cat Door to stop some of my cats leaving the house?
The SureFlap Microchip Cat Door is a selective entry cat door, which means that only "learned" pets can enter and exit. Also includes 4-way manual override lock - allows locking to any combination of in/out. 

Can another cat have the same microchip number or collar tag code as my pet and get into my house?
No. Each microchip has a unique code, so the door will only open for the pets you scan

Will the door learn any microchip that comes close to the scanner?
No - the first time you scan your pet, you also have to push a specific button to tell the unit to learn that particular pet.

Is the SureFlap Microchip Dual-Scan Cat Door available in different sizes?
No, sorry. The Dual Scan Microchip door is currently available in one size - for cats and extra-small dogs. If you have a larger breed, you might want to consider the SureFlap Pet Door.

Is the SureFlap Microchip Cat Door available in different colours?
The SureFlap Dual-Scan Microchip Cat Door is currently available in white and will be available in brown in 2014.

Where can I install the Sureflap Door?
The SureFlap Microchip Cat Door can be installed into a door, window or wall. Your unit comes with full installation instructions.

I have a hole from a previous cat door which is too large for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Door, what can I do?
The easiest solution is to use the SureFlap Microchip Cat Door Mounting Adapter. This adapter extends the area of the cat door to cover holes up to 260mm in diameter.

 

Does the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door have a timer lock?
No. The DualScan Microchip Cat Door does not have a timer lock, but it does have a 4-way manual lock for controlled entry and exit. The larger Pet Door does have a timer lock that means you to program the door to lock and unlock at specified times.

Can I use the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door to stop some of my cats leaving the house?
Yes, the DualScan cat door has been designed with a double antenna that extends from the inside to the outside of the cat door, enabling you to keep certain cats (and extra small dogs) in whilst allowing other cats out.

I already have a SureFlap Microchip Cat Door, will the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door fit into the same hole
Yes. The SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door has exactly the same dimensions as the SureFlap Microchip Cat Door, so it will be a straight swap.

When I replace the batteries are my pet’s microchip numbers stored in memory?
Yep, once a cat’s microchip number is stored in memory, it stays there whether the batteries are in place or not.

Will the unit use a lot of batteries?
The DualScan Microchip Cat Door uses patented low power Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which enables it to run exclusively on batteries. It has been designed to scan for a cat’s microchip only when it detects a cat’s head in the tunnel, so it saves power. Typical battery life is over 6 months, and in many cases, up to 12 months.

What kind of batteries do you recommend using with the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door?
The SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door operates using 4 AA (1.5V) batteries. We recommend the use of good quality, alkaline batteries in order to give the longest lifetime. We do not recommend using rechargeable batteries because they generally produce a lower voltage which may cause the low battery indicator light to flash, even when the batteries do not need recharging.

How do I measure my pet for the right size?
